Gallery in the Glebe

Ottawa, Ontario

Gallery in the Glebe was once an educational building, now transformed into a luxurious apartment designed as a minimalist gallery for displaying art, artifacts, and heritage furniture. The refinished oak flooring creates a light, neutral backdrop that complements the diverse furnishings and artwork.

Perimeter bulkheads discreetly house mechanical and electrical systems while providing indirect and recessed lighting for the art. The concealed lighting features simple ceiling slots, avoiding the visual clutter of tracks or pot lights, ensuring that the focus remains on the art.

Throughout the design, wall surfaces and spaces were carefully planned to accommodate specific art and furniture pieces, ensuring they are presented in the ideal setting for optimal viewing and enjoyment. New millwork and architectural finishes use subtle variations in colour and texture, maintaining their secondary role to highlight the featured pieces.
